The lifeguards on select Maui beaches are on duty every day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If it’s your first time at a specific beach, we highly recommend stopping by the lifeguard tower and ask them about the current wave conditions. If lifeguards are not on duty or on beaches that do not have lifeguards, please heed any posted warning signs or flags. Remember, most of Maui’s beaches are fairly safe but caution should be exercised at all times as ocean conditions change without notice.

While you are enjoying Maui’s beautiful beaches, keep in mind that the island has a sensitive ecosystem, and it is for everyone’s benefit to keep our beaches clean. A good rule of thumb is to take with you what you brought so there’s no trash left behind. This practice also minimizes the chances of marine mammals and seabirds from ingesting or becoming tangled in trash.
